Food: The Main Purpose of Having a Garden
If we live in a city or the suburbs, our relationship with food is usually centered around the grocery store. We know where in the store to find frozen foods, canned goods, and fresh produce (among other things). But what if the shelves were empty? What if the grocery stores were to vanish?
What would we eat? If we are taught how, we can grow our own food. Many plants are edible, and they can take care of our needs. But which ones should we grow? What foods are the most nutritious? If we can only grow two or three things to eat, what should they be? Which ones are best for us?
